El Paso’s $85 million WestStar Tower office building should be finished by summer 2020

The construction of the $85 million, 18-story WestStar Tower office building will begin in about two weeks.

That’s the projected start time after many of the city’s business and government leaders celebrated the project’s symbolic groundbreaking on a hot Wednesday morning under a white tent on a blacktop parking lot at 601 N. Mesa St. and Missouri Avenue, where the building will be constructed.

Hunt Cos. demolished a bank building in 2015 to make way for the new tower.

The building, named WestStar Tower at Hunt Plaza, is expected to be completed by summer 2020.
