DALLAS – On September 25, 2015, Kennis Ketchum was honored by Commercial Real Estate Women (CREW) Dallas with the 2015 Outstanding Achievement Award (OAA). The OAA dates back to 1984 and is the highest award and recognition given each year to a CREW Dallas member.

“An Evening of Outstanding Achievement,” co-sponsored by Hall Financial Group and Locke Lord, was held at the BELO MANSION in downtown Dallas. The evening was planned to highlight the careers of Ketchum and the other three finalists, Brenda Blake (B&J Financial Services, PLLC), Michelle Hudson (Hudson Peters Commercial), and Rebecca Tudor (Twinrose Investments, LLC).  Leigh Richter, winner of the 2014 OAA, made the presentation of the award.

Well known in the Dallas commercial real estate industry, Ketchum is a founder and owner of Portfolio Development, LLC , established in 2001 with the single goal of building high-quality, multi-family and mixed-use complexes.  As one of the small percentage of female developers in the U.S., Ketchum brings 30 years of experience with her long-time clients, having developed to-date 15 projects totaling over 3,000 units.

When she’s not wearing a hard hat, Ketchum has spent time with many philanthropic endeavors near to her heart. She joined CREW in 2001, served on the Board and in many leadership roles including chairing the CREW Dallas Golf Classic, working on the CREW Gala, PR, Community Projects, CREW Careers, U CREW and a CREW Network Taskforce.  She is a big supporter of women and makes herself available for mentoring young people entering the commercial real estate industry.

Other non-profits include Rotary Club of Park Cities for almost 20 years, the Promise House for homeless and abused teens, Reading & Radio Resources, Equest, Casa de los Amigos, Open Door Preschool, SpiritHorse and SAGA Humane Society.

In addition to the award presentation to Ketchum, guests also enjoyed the keynote address by Joanne Lipman, journalist, author, media commentator and a former deputy managing editor of the Wall Street Journal.  Said Lipman, “On the 35th anniversary of CREW Dallas, we look at how far women have traveled over the past three decades, the challenges that remain – and potential solutions to move forward.”
