What I’ve learned from watching the real estate industry for the last few years is that traditional brokerages are caught in a shrinking space. It’s a space that will have less and less opportunity as the market continues to drive agents toward the outer limits. Successful brokerages will need to define what they’re offering agents against new competitors. They will need to leave the comfortable center and find their new stance in this industry that is always reinventing itself.
As a startup guy, this is a problem that excites me. There are established players and new entrants with wildly different ideas on growth strategies, some of which may change the game entirely. For individual agents and smaller brands looking to distinguish themselves, it makes sense to look at how large brands function and how you can adapt their techniques to your own business.
