October 13, 2015 – The Institute of Real Estate Management (IREM), Houston Chapter is prepping for its second annual IREM Food Fest. This year, the networking event’s cooking competition is themed around “Great Tailgate” and requires amateur cooks to create food items inspired by tailgating culture. This unique event serves as a fundraiser for the not-for-profit organization and will be held on October 15th from 4:00 P.M. to 8 P.M. on the lawn at 1700 Post Oak Blvd.


The social event, which is styled like a food festival, features IREM members from different commercial real estate firms alongside service providers to the industry as the event’s chefs.


“There is a lot of buzz surrounding this event because it is such a unique and creative concept. Our IREM members will be cooking up a diverse array of foods all for the purpose of networking and fundraising to support our mission of educating industry professionals.” said Kaci Hancock, ACoM of Wulfe Management who serves as the 2015 IREM Vice President of Services. She added, “This is a fun chance for everyone to experience commercial real estate managers showcasing their culinary skills.”


The event already has 150+ registrants, 20+ cooking teams, live music, yard games, beer, wine and a mobile photo booth planned. Teams will be wearing their favorite sports gear and will be sharing event photos with our event hashtag, #IREMFoodFest. Items on the menu so far include Armadillo Eggs, Bread Pudding with Whiskey Sauce, Pulled Pork Frito Pie and Fried Empanadas.


VIP Judges include: Chef Omar Pereny of Houston’s Peska Seafood Culture, Chef Greg Martin of Houston’s Bistro Menil; Eric Sandler, Food Editor of CultureMap Houston; and Catie Dixon, Bisnow CRE Reporter.
